About us

The Division of Solid Mechanics is strongly involved in the basic education of all engineering disciplines at the Clausthal University of Technology. Additionally, a number of lectures for graduate students are provided which are seen to be necessary for design engineers with focus on research and development. In research, the group works on topics of Experimental Mechanics, Continuum Mechanics, Theory of Materials, and Computational Mechanics. The focus lies in the development of constitutive models to describe the stress and deformation behavior of solids for small and finite strains and its implementation into finite element programs. The fields are embedded in the superordinate question of verification and validation in Computational Mechanics.
